Health Treatments in
Forest of Dean and the
Surrounding Areas
Hello
I am Caren Godfrey and I provide mobile massage therapy and reflexology in the Forest of Dean and the surrounding areas.
I have been a qualified Alternative Therapist for over 30 years. Starting with Reflexology in 1986, then Aromatherapy in 1997. I have enjoyed studying different disciplines and continue to learn and add to the healing experience I can offer in this beautiful and often challenging life.
I have always been interested in holistic therapies which treat the whole body and look at the cause of ill health not just the symptoms. I believe in using food as medicine and looking at lifestyle, diet and exercise, as the body has an extraordinary ability to adapt and with a little help of alternative medicine can heal itself.
Health has been defined as being more than simply the absence of illness. It is the active state of physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing. This is a wonderfully precise encapsulation of the perspectives of holistic medicine. These four aspects of ourselves are constant reminders of our precious and yet extraordinary nature.
Therapies available in your own home
Reflexology
Reflexology is a steady even pressure to stimulate tiny reflex points on the feet, which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. The body’s own healing ability may be strengthened, helping to improve the circulation, eliminate toxins, ease tension and unblock congested energy therefore enhancing health. Totally safe for all ages, babies, elderly, pregnant and cancer patients.
Aromatherapy Massage
Using massage with pure essential oils which are customised especially for you, which work not only on a physical level, they also influence our minds and emotions.
Swedish Massage Whole body massage using a range of techniques with a moderate pressure or a deeper one working on the fascial network (Myofascial Release). Massage helps relax trigger points
and other areas of stiffness in the muscles easing pain.
Indian Head Massage
This treatment manipulates the soft tissues in the upper back, arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face, using different pressures and rhythms. These are the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension. Helps releive headaches, release anxiety whilst promoting great relaxation.
Warm Bamboo Massage
Using different sized lengths of warmed Bamboo to provide a unique, deep tissue massage which promotes a sense of well-being and exquisite relaxation.
Cupping Therapy
This treatment is a good alternative to acupuncture: Cups of various sizes create a vacuum and are placed over acupuncture points but they treat a larger area of the body.
In ” Moving cupping ” an area of the body is smeared with oil or honey and the applied cup is drawn around with the vacuum intact, thus encouraging movement of Qi and blood in the area.
Moving cupping using honey is an excellent treatment for cellulite and results are plain to see.
Effective management of sports injuries, mobility issues, myofascial pain, digestive problems, blood circulation problems, hormonal imbalances, skin conditions, and releif of musculoskeletal rigidity, tension and pain to name but a few.
Myoskeletal Alignment Technique
(MAT) system uses the most advanced therapeutic strategies to releive, and correct patterns in the body that lead to pain and deterioration. With MAT therapy clients can be free from pain and often avoid invasive surgery or years of medication.
Issues that can be helped : Chronic and acute pains
Prevents chronic neck and back pain due to tension, trauma & weak posture
Releases trapped nerves from tight joints, ligaments and muscles
Eliminates protective muscle guarding due to joint dysfunction
Active pain-free therapy signals the brain that the previously painful movement is now safe.
In this busy and stressful world it is all too easy to focus on the problems of the world around us and forget to look after ourselves. For example, we routinely take our cars for a regular service but seldom do the same for our bodies!
People are developing an increasing resistance to antibiotics, given to treat different infections and are turning to a variety of complementary treatments that will help to build up their immune systems. They also can do so much to improve a persons mental attitude.
Disillusionment with modern medicine has resulted in a new enthusiasm and demand for safer and more natural forms of therapy. Orthodox and alternative practices have their place in healthcare and can ideally work together as neither could claim to be the total health care systems.
I am now in a very fortunate position to work in a profession I love and take it to others, as a mobile therapist working in different locations in Bristol and the Forest Of Dean and surrounding areas.

Therapeutic Massage Forest of Dean
I offer the most advanced therapeutic strategies to relieve and ultimately correct issues in the body that leads to chronic pain, arising from common imbalances and dysfunctional patterns in the musculoskeletal system.
Most chronic pain can be relieved with a combination of skilled manual therapy and intelligent corrective exercises.
In today’s society people are inclined to sit for hours in poorly supported postures, without physical activity which does not promote good spinal health.
I encourage active client participation and can often use many of my skills in one session.
Using manual stimulation with movement can trigger profound changes in how the mind thinks about pain.
Alternatively if relaxation is your aim I offer a variety of other options to choose from.
Reflexology Forest of Dean
I offer Reflexology in Forst of Dean and Bristol while you are in your own home or place of work.
Reflexology encourages the brain to produce more endorphins, while the pressure also acts to confuse the body with too many sensations to respond to, forcing the body to close “the paingates” This interrupts the pain cycle eases pain and helps the body to relax. Working well on 3 specific levels : Physiological, Psychological and spiritually.
Reflexology helps to balance all the body’s systems, stimulating an underactive area and calming an overactive one.
Expelling the suppressed emotions of stress relaxing both our bodies and our attitudes to life.
